Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
A Year Ago...
Today my husband's nephew has been married for one year. This means one year ago today I danced for the first time with my husband. We'd probably not danced before because I'm really not very large-group social. I liked dancing with him. After nearly ten years of marriage it was nice to do something romantic and sweet for the first time.

The next day he got sick.

Yesterday, he moved a toe on his left foot really clearly for the first time since the sickness damaged so many nerves. This means the nerves are still coming back. Yay! He went outside barefoot yesterday and said he could feel the roughness of the patio concrete on the souls of his feet...another big deal.

Every once in a while we run across something he can't remember at all, not even a little from before he got sick. The virus in his brain didn't erase many files but when it did...they were just gone. No access. Zap. So far, none of them have been big moments but still, it's sad to lose a memory.

But he works outside a bit. He gives me heck about my desk. He's well.

I'm glad.

You've had an incredibly hard year, and it's wonderful to hear the optimism in this post.

I still kinda get these flashbacks emotionally but overall, life is good. And I sure like getting my bear hugs.

That'd be nice. I expect we look a bit comical when we dance. He's sooooo tall and I'm soooooo not. But I take all opportunities to hug so it's like hugging to music.

I'm glad things are still coming back - and that you have him! I spent a lot of time last year thinking about you and praying for you.

And I appreciate the prayers more than you can possibly know. During such a rocky time, it's really strengthening to see such caring folks.

Hey - I know you prayed for my hubby's car last July - it overheated again this weekend, and again I'm worried about the head gasket being cracked - prayers welcome!

I'm so happy your boy is still recovering, and you see your gifts. Jan you've not been far from my thoughts for a long time, though I've not kept up. Flabby armed agy hugs to you and yours sweet, sweet heart.

Oh my, don't even talk about flabby arms...it was hot yesterday so I put on this sleeveless shirt. I looked like batgirl, and not in a cute sexy way...more like a "flap those things and let's see if we can fly" way. But I take all hugs...even if we had duelling flappies at the time.

oh and to make you feel a bit better, my bum fell another inch or so in the deep dark winter and disguised by overblown clothes! Time to get a-walking again!
